BEAR SCARE app for iPhone and iPad

BEARSCARE Ltd. is the premiere provider of Bear Safety, Wildlife Awareness and Management training and on-site Wildlife Conflict Management for the Canadian Wilderness.

The BEARSCARE app is designed to further the goal of BEARSCARE Ltd. to increase awareness and safety in the Canadian Wilderness, and to decrease the frequency of fatal or damaging outcomes for both the human and animal components of encounters. The app features information on the major Canadian predators and the large animals on which they prey; including how to understand the nature of an encounter with these animals and deal with it effectively, humanely and above all, safely.


The BEARSCARE app contains information on how to recognize what species you are dealing with; their tendencies, biology, home ranges, and how to avoid or safely resolve a personal encounter with them.


BEARSCARE and Route5A Development are committed to providing a quality product that is constantly evolving, and the information within the app will be continuously updated and expanded.


At release, the app will contain information on:


- Predators including Bears, Cougars, Wolves and Coyotes.
- Large Ungulates including Moose, Rocky Mountain Elk, Caribou, Deer and Bison.
- Wildlife Vectored Diseases such as Lyme Disease, West Nile Virus, Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome and Rabies.
- BEARSCARE as an organization and how to get in contact with them.


Planned additions are:


- Expanded information on Predators and Large Ungulates.
- Information on Insect Bites, Stings and Spider Bites.
- Information on Noxious Plants and Snakes.
- A blog, cataloging experiences from BEARSCARE instructors and field-workers.
- Information on basic wilderness survival and tracking.
